XII Switzerland Meeting Trophy: adventure, uniting nations
The Belgian team has won the 12th Switzerland Meeting Trophy organized last weekend by Switzerland Tourism. This unconventional rally, taking place for the 12th time has now become an essential summer event for meeting and incentive travel specialists. It gave 78 participants the chance to discover Switzerland and its meeting facilities on a route going from Verbier to Lausanne via Montreux and Vevey.
Meeting Trophy is my favorite project of the year. Every Trophy is unique - a new route, a new team. This is a journey of discovery of places in Switzerland and people from 13 countries, it provides inspiration and adventure, and competition in very friendly environment. It's a great showcase of Switzerland for all professional meeting planners!
Eight national teams, representing the UK & Ireland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, North America, the Nordic countries and Russia (winners of the last edition), took part in the rally from 30 June to 3 July. Travelling from mountains through the countryside and towns, the teams were able to appreciate the wealth of leisure opportunities and the quality of meeting facilities offered by the small country of Switzerland.
The Switzerland Meeting Trophy is a rally by different means of transport: car, train and cable-railway. Each participant of the Trophy gets a special Rally Book containing questions, descriptions, instructions and useful information. At the end of each day, the Rally Books are collected and the points totalled for the interim and final results. The time taken for completion is not important – the objective is to enjoy the trip and to find as many correct answers to the questions as possible. Along the way all participants get to know Switzerland, its history, traditions and culture, as well as its role as a meeting and incentive venue.
